Burhanpur. The 79-year-old man reached the collector’s office on Wednesday to declare himself alive. Actually, this old man has been declared dead by his panchayat. The effect of this is that his pension has been stopped for the last one year.

The condition of this old man is that he had reached the collectorate office with his son walking with the help of a stick. They were sitting there silently. When the old man was asked about his problem in the office, he told that the Panchayat has declared him dead. I have come to the collector to declare myself alive. So that my pension can start.

Negligence of Panchayat

In fact, the pension of Rajaram’s father Shankar Chowdhary, a resident of Chinchala Panchayat, located 5 kilometers away from Burhanpur district, was stopped for the last one year by declaring him dead. For this, he went to the panchayat and complained several times and the son applied several times in the panchayat. But every time he only got assurance and due to the negligence of the Panchayat system, his pension could not be started. Then on Wednesday, he was forced to come to the collector’s office to prove himself alive.

Pension is closed since one year

Pradeep Chowdhary, son of elderly Rajaram told that for the last one year the father is worried about pension. They used to work as laborers. Every time I applied to the panchayat regarding the pension problem, I used to get only assurance. Last week, when he went to the District Panchayat to complain, when he took the entire ID and Aadhaar card and checked there, the computer operator said that he has passed away. That is, the father was declared dead in the records of the district. On asking the reason, the district employees said that all the information comes from the panchayat itself. There is also a survey there. Panchayat must have updated the information. Then he had taken the documents for amendment and said that he would have to go to the bank and check. Went to the bank on Monday with my father. But the pension did not come. That’s why I have reached the collectorate with my father to complain.

assurance of strict action

Additional Collector Shailendra Singh Solanki said that a complaint has been received by the Panchayat for stopping the pension by declaring the elderly as dead. District Panchayat CEO has been instructed to investigate the matter and start pension by adding names soon. Along with this, strict action will be taken against whoever is found negligent in this matter.
